SILESTONE INSTALLED IN STUNNING NEW COOKERY SCHOOL

J ROTHERHAMS TEAMS UP WITH SILESTONE TO CREATE CENTRE-PIECE OF NEW HALIFAX COOKING SCHOOL

Leading quartz work surface manufacturer Cosentino has teamed up with the East Yorkshire-based worktop fabricator, J Rotherhams to provide a dramatic Silestone worksurfaces to a pioneering new cookery school in Halifax.

Set to open in January 2009 by celebrity chef James Martin, The Cooking School at Dean Clough is being launched to provide a unique environment for young people and adults to learn to cook.   All profits will be donated to the nationally renowned ‘Focus on Food’ charity to run initiatives such as the mobile ‘Focus on Food Buses’ which help tens of thousands of young people and teachers across the UK have a no cost culinary experience of their own.

Anita Comac, executive director of Focus on Food said, “Silestone is the perfect choice for The Cooking School at Dean Clough because of its quality, durability, versatility and stunning good looks. Silestone combines stunning good looks with high performance and hygiene perfect for our state-of-the-art teaching kitchen. The Silestone colour range is extensive and The Cooking School chose a fresh green for the central work station. It has now become The School’s signature colour.”

The 2,500 sq ft Cooking School houses 21 teaching stations.  Each is fitted with state of the art NEFF appliances and is finished with a white or grey Silestone, anti-bacterial quartz work surface, fabricated and installed by J Rotherham of East Yorkshire.  The centre-piece of the school is the demonstration kitchen, which will be used regularly by the principal chef tutor, Matthew Benson-Smith and visiting celebrity chef supporters of the ‘Focus on Food’ initiative.  The demonstration kitchen features a stunning, bright green Silestone work surface from the new Life colour collection, creating a dramatic focal point in the school.

Anna Buckley, sales and marketing director at J Rotherham said, “We were really pleased to work on a bespoke project of this nature.  The curved and complex design of the cooking school’s kitchens required even more attention to detail than usual.  Our hard work has really paid off – the finished project looks fantastic and I hope all those who pass through the school will enjoy it for many years to come.”

Christophe Gontier, managing director of Cosentino UK added, “The ‘Focus on Food’ campaign is a brilliant cause and we were pleased to help with providing Silestone for the Cooking School.  This is a venture like no other, requiring hygienic, practical yet stunning work surfaces to create the finishing touch to this unique project.”
